Henry Martin (1860 – 1943).

Born in 1860 in Toulouse, he bought in 1881 the domain of Marquayrol in Labastide-du-Vert in the Lot.
This oil on canvas, a view from the village bridge, is a superb testimony to his pictorial technique aimed at constructing forms and rendering light with short, separate and parallel strokes. An original "divisionism" which reveals the influence of the neo-impressionists, with a poetic inspiration which brings it closer to symbolism.

The painting entitled "View of the Labastide-du-vert bridge" was sold for 112,500 euros including fees on November 12, 2016.
